2 Division - Herlev

We gave Herlev an early Christmas present from the Falcons Div2.

Have to admit and be grateful to late signups - Nicki, Bo, and Lukas that made it into a complete two-line game; without them, we would have a much more challenging time to create the offense we like.

Herlev: Not the same team we faced last year, or did they age and gain some weight(??? -  I need clarification on this. Tho. I must point out their **exclusive**gear -  Vintage Cooper helmet, white skates (might be painted with a marker), oversized pants, and cages.

They com in sneaky right from the start and try to play a tactical trick in hopes of confusing us - they are in white jerseys.

1.st. 🏒🏒

We started the first period in a rather festive mood; nothing made it look like there would be trouble. Around 5 min into the game, we had a faceoff in our zone. We lost it. D men pick it up and shoot an easy-to-catch puck for Elliot, no trouble, let's do the faceoff, we lose (again) - same D, same shot, 1/2 second coverage on Elliot's sight - 0:1. 

After this wake-up call, we scored three goals on a quick win-back strike. Herlev got one back, but so did we- 4:2 after the first—lots of goals but not much else. For sure, we hit 3-4 posts? Lukas is hitting on in the top corner; the score could have easily been 5-6-7:2  on all the chances we missed. 

The second period starts with Herlev trying to break the game by playing more physically (TBH, they were already tired.).

As usual, Div2 games go; 2nd period brings in hits, checks, slashes, and all that sweet stuff. The first action happens when Jonathan gets one of those fancy white skates in his nutsack and is not happy about it - IMO, both guys go and sit, but the referee sends just Jonathan to the box. 

Now, the Herlev hates Jonathan.

 In the penalty kill, we fight well, but Gints and Nicki end up outplayed by 3 Herlev fancy hands, and they get 4:3. It is Not too long, as with the next shift ( 20-25 seconds), we gain back a two-goal lead. Robert receives a hero pass from our goal line for a breakaway, fakes, and slides (does not even shoot, just lets off the blade)  into a five-hole. The goalie is totally pissed about this move. 

3d 🏒🏒🏒

Going into third, Sheridan( the enforcer )  jinxes "a fight" with  Mikkel. Mid in the period, while battling for the open puck behind their goal, he gets taken down by three herlev dudes. All the hell broke loose. Sheridan properly handled three guys, with Mikkel and Kasper in the middle trying to restore peace. Thank god for that punching glove. The guy from Herlev has a proper mark on his eye - something to show to his wife and kids. Both get sent to showers for a cool down. 

The Falcons scored two easy goals, giving a late-game powerplay to Herlev. This time, the penalty kill is on point; they can't get even in the zone; the only hope for them is 2m tall, 120kg, some young ex-pro. He tries a few times to cross the ice on his own but with no success; as a last resort, a shot from the center in the hope of a miracle. 

It's a win.

Elliot Takes home MVP - multiple great saves. 

Sheridan plays the game he likes the way he likes.
